Through the California Department of Education’s Public Charter Schools Grant Program, The Learning Collective has conducted external reviews of six charter schools: City Language Immersion Charter (Los Angeles), Community Montessori (Escondido), Gateway International School (Sacramento), Highland Academy (Beaumont), Metro Charter (Los Angeles), and Prepa Tec (Los Angeles). External reviews with more schools are planned for the 2015-16 school year. Some of those schools utilize quite a few education technologies and digital learning mediums.
Principals of those six schools have been highly satisfied with the reviews. Video testimonials of the principals are available upon request.
The process consists of a 2.5 day on-site review; two days of information gathering (classroom observations, administrator and teacher interviews, document review) and a 1/2 day prioritization session (in which TLC presents the findings from the previous two days and a team from the school prioritizes next steps stemming from the findings). TLC then follows up the on-site visit with a written report (sent to the school) one week after the visit.
