The Learning Collective has evaluated 60 first- and second-year California charter schools through California Department of Education’s Public Charter Schools Grant Program. These are some of the findings from those visits.

2019 TLC Highlights

2019 was a productive years for The Learning Collective. We led strategic planning projects with some new clients, such as Discovery Charter School and the Beginning with Children education network in New York, and with authorizers such as those through our partnership with Oklahoma Public School Resource Center.

More Authorizers Partnering with Consultants

Charter school authorizers are increasingly partnering with consultants. We see this in our ongoing and renewed partnerships with these and other charter authorizers: Charter Schools Institute of the State University of New York, Washington State Charter School Commission, New Jersey Department of Education and Nevada State Public Charter School Authority.

Lessons Learned from the Midwest

From inner-city Detroit to rural Minnesota, The Learning Collective has been hard at work over the past several years evaluating the efficacy of charter and traditional public schools in the Midwest. There are a few things we’ve learned in the process.

Blended Learning Evaluation Tool

The Learning Collective has begun working with E.L. Haynes Charter School in Washington DC to develop a blended learning planning process AND an evaluation tool to rapidly assess the effectiveness of the school’s blended learning programs.  Specifically, we’ll be evaluating the effectiveness of 9 different blended learning vendors/programs implemented at the school.
