Charter school authorizers are increasingly partnering with consultants. We see this in our ongoing and renewed partnerships with these and other charter authorizers: Charter Schools Institute of the State University of New York, Washington State Charter School Commission, New Jersey Department of Education and Nevada State Public Charter School Authority.
Charter authorizers continue to turn to The Learning Collective to participate in and lead school quality reviews AND evaluate new school applications. State education offices, that oversee many authorizers in a given state, are also opting to team up with third parties to evaluate authorizers themselves, as we’ve done for the past several years for the Ohio Department of Education.
Often with limited budgets, charter authorizers find outsourcing to consultants a cost effective way to meet work demands during peak times of the year, provide objectivity to analyses & outcomes and benefit from learning about the practices of other authorizers nationally.
