The San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) office is partnering with The Learning Collective. In 2020, The Learning Collective developed a protocol and related rubrics for SBCSS to conduct academic reviews of the charter schools it authorizes. In 2021, The Learning Collective updated those protocols to also account for remote learning resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. During the end of the 2020-21 academic year, The Learning Collective led a SBCSS team to evaluate four charter schools utilizing those protocols. In 2023, we trained county staff at San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools on how to evaluate academic sections of new charter school petitions/applications and then led those evaluations.
