The Learning Collective has presented at a couple conferences this spring.  Specifically, we’ve presented about blended learning at the inaugural, national Online Education Symposium for Independent Schools (OESIS) and at the California Charter Schools Association’s (CCSA) 20th Annual Conference.

At OESIS we conducted a 90-minute crash course workshop in blended learning essentials.  At CCSA we presented our 7-step process for developing a blended learning program.

Two of the bigger insights we drew from the conference are:

  1. In part due to budget necessities, California charter schools are far ahead of independent schools (in California and nationally) in implementing blended learning programs.
  2. Many independent schools that are currently considering blended learning are looking into blended learning to give their schools a competitive advantage over nearby schools
